The standard textbook passage from Lagrangian to Hamilton-Jacobi theory requires the Lagrangian to be non-singular such that all velocities can be expressed in terms of positions and momenta. However, even in the singular case a modified Hamilton-Jacobi theory can be formulated. In the paper under review the authors develop such a modified Hamilton-Jacobi theory for the situation that the Lagrangian depends both on bosonic and on fermionic variables, comprehensively written in terms of Berezinian algebra variables. As an example, they consider the electromagnetic field coupled to a spinor field. The results are compared with Dirac's Hamiltonian formalism for singular systems.
