Let \(G\) be the space of lines in \(\mathbb{R}^3\). We can coordinatize \(G\) in the following way: \(\ell= \ell(e,x)\), where \(e\in S^2\setminus \{\pm 1\}\) is the direction of \(\ell\) and \(x=x_\ell\) is the unique point on \(\ell\) which is perpendicular to \(e\). The mixed norms on \(G\) are defined in the following way: If \(F:G\to \mathbb{R}\) then \[ \| F\|_{L_e^q(L_x^r)}= \Biggl( \int_{e\in S^2} \Biggl(\int_{\{x\in \mathbb{R}^3,x\perp e\}} (| F(e,x)|^r dx)^{q/r} dx\Biggr) de\Biggr)^{1/q}. \] The author considers the \(X\)-ray transform which is the map from functions on \(\mathbb{R}^3\) to functions on \(G\) defined by \[ Xf(\ell)= \int_\ell f. \] He proves that for all \(f: \mathbb{R}^3\to \mathbb{R}\) with support in the unit disc \[ \| Xf\|_{L_e^q(L_x^r)}\leq C_\varepsilon \| f\|_{p,\varepsilon} \] holds for any \(\varepsilon >0\). Here \(\|\cdot \|_{p,\varepsilon}\) is the inhomogeneous Sobolev norm with \(\varepsilon\) derivatives in \(L^p\), and the exponents are as follows: \(p= \frac 52\), \(q= \frac{10}{3}\), \(r=10\).
