The authors introduce and study an extension of natural duality between topological and regular convergence spaces. They define the new concept of \(p\)-topological convergence space, where \(p\) is some convergence structure, which is in analogous duality with the notion of \(p\)-regular convergence space which was introduced by the second author and \textit{G. D. Richardson} [Math. Nachr. 149, 215-222 (1990; Zbl 0724.54004)]. In the initial section of the paper the authors give some useful criteria when a convergence space is \(p\)-topological or \(p\)-regular. Taking the advantage of duality they also study the behaviour of these notions relative to some natural or standard constructions (closure and interior maps, products, sums, quotient spaces etc.). In the second section the authors investigate some further properties of \(p\)-topological convergence spaces which have no simple analogues in \(p\)-regular spaces. The authors also discuss some relations of the studied properties to certain topological spaces and notions (regularity, complete regularity and local compactness). The third section contains the definition of the new and useful concept of the neighborhood operator for a filter. This notion which is essentially dual to the ``closure of a filter'' is useful for another characterization of ``\(p\)-topological'' and illustrates its duality with ``\(p\)-regular''. The final part of the paper (Section 4 and Section 5) is devoted to the investigation of lower and upper modifications of \(p\)-topological and \(p\)-regular convergence spaces and contains also the discussion regarding the topological series of a convergence space (dual of the regularity series).
