The paper provides a reformulation in terms of a non-standard Poisson structure, of the mean-field dynamical equations in \(\phi^4\) theory, the so-called time-dependent Hartree-Bogolyubov (TDHB) equations. In \textit{Eboli, Jackiw} and \textit{Pi} [Phys. Rev. D, 37, 3557 (1988)], the TDHB equations were used to study evolution in the \(\phi^4\) theory, and a previous paper of the author [Phys. Rev. D 52, 7121 (1995)] reformulated them into a neat form by introducing suitable dynamical variables. The current paper defines a suitable Poisson tensor, which is later identified as coming from a certain Lie algebra structure, so as to rewrite the TDHB equations as standard Hamiltonian evolution equations. In this formulation, the Heisenberg invariant appears as a structural invariant while a linearisation around HB static solutions allows an investigation of stability properties at finite temperatures and the existence of bound states in both the symmetric and broken phases as well as of the phase transition between them.
