On cyclically resolvable cyclic Steiner 2-designs (Q1284162)

A direct construction of cyclically resolvable cyclic Steiner 2-designs is presented. It is remarkable that the direct method can produce cyclically resolvable cyclic Steiner 2-designs no matter the block size is even or odd. By this method and some ad hoc constructions, using a computer, the existence of an infinite series of cyclically resolvable cyclic Steiner 2-designs with block size 4 on \(4p\) points is shown for \(p=12t+1\) a prime and \(t\) odd. Furthermore, using a known recursive construction method due to \textit{M. Genma}, \textit{M. Mishima} and \textit{M. Jimbo} [J. Comb. Des. 5, No. 3, 177-187 (1997; Zbl 0911.05012)] cyclically resolvable cyclic Steiner 2-designs with block size 4 and \(4q\) points are constructed, when \(q\) is a product of primes of the form \(12t+1\) where \(t\) is odd.
