For single-type multiply connected automatic control (MAC) systems, a new stability criterion (necessary and sufficient condition) is formulated in the frequency domain. The method is not sensitive to the order of the differential equations describing the separate subsystems. Moreover, it allows to evaluate the influence of the dynamic properties of the separate subsystems and their interconnections on the stability of the overall system. From this criterion, a sufficient condition for stability is derived in an algebraic form, it circumvents the need for operating with some analytic expressions, as requested by the frequency-domain approach. An example illustrates the usefulness of these new results.
