The authors present a domain decomposition method for the Helmholtz equation on an unbounded domain. A spherical artificial exterior boundary is introduced. The method uses radiation boundary conditions at the internal subdomain boundaries and on the exterior boundary. The implementation of the condition on the exterior boundary is implemented in terms of the Dirichlet-to-Neumann map applied to the previous iterate, thereby making all of the matrix problems local to the subdomains.
