The first boundary value problem is studied for the Stokes system \[ -\nu\Delta v + \nabla q = f(x),\quad\text{div} v = 0,\quad x\in\Omega\subset\mathbb R^n,\quad n\geq 2,\quad v| _{\partial\Omega} = 0, \] where \(v\) is the velocity field, \(q(x)\) is the pressure, \(f\) is the vector field of the external forces. The authors study the problem of a viscous flow over several bodies in the Stokes statement under the following conditions: the velocity field \(v(x)\) belongs to \(L_p^2(\Omega)\) and the pressure gradient \(\nabla q(x)\) belongs to \(L_p(\Omega)\), \(1<p<\infty\), where \(\Omega\) is the exterior of a compact set in \(\mathbb R^n\). The fact that a solution belongs to the above-mentioned functional spaces determines the type of the flow at infinity. Bounded, increasing, and decreasing solutions with a certain rate as \(| x| \to\infty\) are studied. In [\textit{V. N. Maslennikova} and \textit{M. A. Timoshin}, Sov. Math., Dokl. 42, No. 1, 197-201 (1991; Zbl 0728.76031)], the authors considered the case \(n=3\) and, using Legendre polynomials, explicitly constructed a solution in the exterior of a ball and proved that the problem has nonzero index. The aim of the article under review is to study the case \(n=2\) in detail, although many general theorems like the theorem on a priori estimates are established for every \(n\geq 2\). The authors investigate the flow problem for a disk \(B\subset\mathbb R^2\) and finitely many planar compact sets. Simultaneously, the authors construct an explicit solution to the problem in the exterior of a disk for arbitrary boundary conditions.
