On page 56 of his Lost Notebook, Ramanujan recorded several modular equations related to the famous Rogers-Ramanujan continued fraction \[ R(q) = \tfrac{q^{1/5}}{1}+ \tfrac{q}{1}+ \tfrac{q^2}{1}+ \tfrac{q^3}{1}+ \cdots\qquad |q|<1, \] one of which is \[ R(q^4) = \left(\frac{1-k}{1+k}\right)^{1/10}\frac{2k^{4/5}}{\sqrt{1-k^2}+\sqrt{1-4k-k^2}}, \] where \(k = R(q)R(q^2)^2.\) In this paper, the author provides elementary proofs to all these modular relations and derives new identities analogous to those given by Ramanujan.
