Let \(A\) be a Noetherian ring, \(\widetilde{I}\) and \(I\) be comaximal ideals of \(A\), and \(P\) be a projective \(A\)-module. ``Addition'' refers to being given a surjection \(P\to \widetilde{I}\) and producing a surjection \(P\to \widetilde{I}\cap I\). ``Subtraction'' refers to being given \(P\to \widetilde{I}\cap I\) and producing some \(P\to \widetilde{I}\). In this paper the author extends certain addition and subtraction results of \textit{R. Sridharan} [J. Algebra 176, No. 3, 947-958 (1995; Zbl 0849.13005)] and \textit{S. Mandal} and \textit{R. Sridharan} [J. Math. Kyoto Univ. 36, No. 3, 453-470 (1996; Zbl 0874.13010)]. He weakens the hypotheses imposed on \(\widetilde{I}\) and in a suitable fashion removes the hypothesis that \(P\) must have trivial determinant. With certain restrictions, he also allows \(\dim A/I\leq 1\), rather than \(\text{ht } I=\dim A\).
