Let \(U=U_q({\mathfrak g})\) be the quantized enveloping algebra associated with a semisimple finite-dimensional Lie algebra \(\mathfrak g\), \(q\) a non-zero non-root of unity. The authors consider noncommutative schemes with an action of \(U\). First they conclude that one should work in the category of rings graded by the root lattice \(Q\), which leads to a natural definition of a quantum differential operator including the grading action of \(Q\). The first main result of the paper is the following: If \(U\) acts as a Hopf algebra on a ring \(R\) so that \(R\) is diagonalizable as a module over the ``Cartan'' part of \(U\) then \(U\) acts by quantum differential operators. Further the authors construct a localization for \(U\) parallel to the Beilinson-Bernstein localization for \(U({\mathfrak g})\). In particular, they construct the quantum flag variety \(X\) with a ``sheaf'' of quantum differential operators and a natural homomorphism from \(U\) to the global differential operators on \(X\). It is proved that the functor of global sections is exact on the category of \(D_f\)-modules and that \(D_f\)-modules have no higher cohomology (both if \(f\) is dominant). It is worth to point out that the ``structure sheaf'' of \(X\) consists of noncommutative rings and rings of ``functions'' on different shifts of the ``big cell'' in \(X\) are non-isomorphic in general. Finally, the authors prove the Borel-Weyl theorem and conjecture that Bernstein's theorem on the dimensions of \(D\)-modules still holds for quantum \(D\)-modules. As an evidence they mention that it is true in the already non-trivial case of \(\text{sl}(2)\).
