The author studies the signature of the Milnor fibre associated to certain type of hypersurface singularities. In particular, he studies Durfee's conjecture, giving an inequality between the geometric genus and 1/6 times the Milnor number. He proves this conjecture in some cases. Durfee's conjecture in particular should give that the signature is negative. Wahl has given an example for non complete intersection with positive signature. The author discusses the question why the hypersurface case should be different.
