This paper deals with some aspects of approximation theory of one-dimensional Galerkin methods. The phenomenon of superconvergence at the knots is well-known. To prove a corresponding result for less smooth functions, the author apply \(K\)-functional technique to a Jackson-type inequality and estimate the relevant error by a modulus of continuity. The proof of the sharpness is based upon a quantitative extension of the uniform boundedness principle in connection with some ideas of \textit{J. Douglas jun.} and \textit{T. Dupont} [Numer. Math. 22, 99-109 (1974; Zbl 0331.65051)].
