Let \(K/{\mathbb Q}_p\) be a finite non-ramified Galois extension with Galois group \(\Sigma\) and let \(G\) be a further finite group. In a previous paper [\textit{Ph. Cassou-Noguès} and \textit{M. J. Taylor}, J. Algebra 95, 125-152 (1985; Zbl 0603.12007)], the authors have shown that, via Fröhlich's Hom-description, the usual Adams operations on the classical ring of virtual characters of \(G\) induce operations on the Grothendieck group \(K_0T({\mathcal O}_K[G])\) of finitely presented torsion modules over the group ring \({\mathcal O}_K[G]\). (For an interpretation of these operations in terms of symmetric power operations, see the reviewer's paper [\textit{B. Köck}, Math. Ann. 314, No. 4, 667-702 (1999)].) Furthermore, \textit{M. Taylor} [J. Algebra 66, 321-353 (1980; Zbl 0491.12007)] has proved the so-called fixed point theorem for determinants which says that the group \(\text{ Det}({\mathcal O}_K[G]^\times)^\Sigma\) of \(\Sigma\)-fixed elements in the image of \({\mathcal O}_K[G]^\times\) under the determinant map equals \(\text{ Det}({\mathbb Z}_p[G]^\times)\). The main tool in the proof of both theorems is Taylor's group logarithm. In the paper under review, the authors show that both theorems remain true, if the group ring \({\mathcal O}_K[G]\) is replaced by the more general order \({\mathcal M}_K(H) \otimes _{{\mathcal O}_K[H]} {\mathcal O}_K[G]\) where \(H\) is a \(p\)-group of \(G\) contained in the center of \(G\) and \({\mathcal M}_K(H)\) denotes the (unique) maximal order in the (commutative) algebra \(K[H]\).
