Consider the following particular problem for the heat transfer equation: \[ {\partial v\over\partial t}= {\partial^2v\over t\partial x^2},\quad v=\nu(t,x),\quad t\in [0,1],\quad x\in[0,2]. \] We denote by \(G_1\) a set (domain) in the plane of variables \((t,x)\), bounded by the lines \(t= 0\), \(t=1\), and \(x=0\) and a curve \(x= f(t)\), and by \(G_2\) a domain bounded by \(t= 0\), \(x=2\), and \(x= f(t)\), where \(f(t)\) is a given smooth function monotonely increasing on \([0,1]\), \(f(0)= 1\), \(f(1)= 2\). The simplest moving boundary problem is: To find a function \(v= v(t,x)\) in \(G_1\) which satisfies the equation, the initial condition \(v(0,x)= v_0(x)\), \(x\in[0,1]\), and the boundary conditions \(v(t,0)= v(t,f(t))= 0\), \(t\in[0,1]\). In addition, we require that \(v(t,x)= 0\) on \(\overline G_2\). We shall consider this problem in the space \(L_2(0,2)\) and find its generalized solution.
