Let \(X\) be an infinite-dimensional (complex) Banach space. Let \(\text{End }X\) denote the Banach algebra of all bounded linear operators from \(X\) to \(X\). If \(A\in \text{End }X\), then \(A_{ij}= P_i AP_j\in \text{End }X\) where \(\{P_i\}\) is a sequence of projections on \(X\). Thus \(A\) can be identified by the matrix \((A_{ij})\). Define \(d_A(k)= \sup\{\|A_{ij}\|: i- j=k\}\). Let \(\text{End}_1X= \left\{A\in \text{End }X: \sum^\infty_{k= 1}d_A(k)< \infty\right\}\) and \(\|A\|_1= \sum^\infty_{k= 1} d_A(k)\) \(\forall A\in \text{End}_1X\). The author establishes the following result among others: Let \(A\in \text{End}_1X\) such that \(A\) is invertible. Then \(A^{-1}\in \text{End}_1X\) and \[ \|A^{-1}\|_1\leq 2^{n+ 1}m\|A^{-1}\|\left({\root n\of{1+ 2\cdot 3^n\chi(A)}+ \root n\of{2\cdot 3^n\chi(A)}\over \root n\of{1+ 4\cdot 3^n\chi(A)}- \root n\of{4\cdot 3^n\chi(A)}}\right)^n, \] where \(m\) depends on \(\|A\|\) and \(\|A^{-1}\|\) and \(\chi(A)=\|A\|\cdot\|A^{-1}\|\).
