The surface of a violin is complicated. Here the author suggests a procedure, in terms of polynomials and rational functions, in order to find a good approximation of the curved violin's surface. The problem is reduced, by a pure computer graphic procedure, to the determination of a particular surface reproducing the shape of a violin. But the theory of violin is not the geometric formulation of its form. The fundamental problem is the relationship between the shape, stiffness of wood, tension of cords, and sound. On this subject there are hundreds of papers written along three centuries, but the author seems to ignore them.
