A thin film delaminated region is considered as an isotropic clamped circular plate under axisymmetric compression. Transverse stitching or three-dimensional weaving is modeled by a continuous elastic connection between the delaminated film and the base plate. If the delaminated region remains smaller than a critical value, then the buckling mode is of a non-contact type. For this type the authors study the effects of the critical energy release rate in mode II and of the transverse elasticity constant on the fracture toughness.
