This paper studies the well-formed ordered spaces. These are the spaces obtained from a collection of totally ordered sets each with the interval topology by repeatedly taking subspaces, quotient spaces and inverse limits. A \(T_1\) space is a well-formed space if, and only if, it is a GO-space. The authors obtain some results concerning well-formed spaces in the absence of any separation axioms. For example, any connected well-formed space is locally connected and any well-formed space has the Junnila condition: it is possible to choose a neighborhood base \(B_x\) at each point \(x\) in such a way that if \(U\in B_x\), \(V\in B_y\), \(x\notin\text{cl} V\), \(y\notin\text{cl} U\), then \(U\) and \(V\) are disjoint. But many of the authors' results concern a class of well-formed spaces, the selective spaces, which are defined by a separation axiom between \(T_0\) and \(T_1\). The authors characterize these spaces and show that they enjoy many properties analogous to those of GO-spaces.
