A set-valued mapping from \(X\) to \(Y\) maps a point of \(X\) to a subset of \(Y\); here \(X,Y\) are connected, normal Hausdorff topological spaces. The application of homology theory to set-valued mappings begins in the paper of \textit{S. Eilenberg} and \textit{D. Montgomery} [Am. J. Math. 68, 214-222 (1946; Zbl 0060.40203)]. In the present paper, the author studies set-valued mappings and he deduces a theorem for single-valued mappings which is analogous to the Vietoris Mapping Theorem: ``Let \(f:X\to Y\) be a continuous mapping such that (i) \(f^{-1}(C)\) for every compact \(C\) of \(Y\) is compact, (ii) \(f^{-1}(y)\) is acyclic and nonempty for every \(y\in Y\). Then \(f\) induces an isomorphism \(f_*: H_k(X) \to H_k(Y)\) for every \(k\)''. The author also uses set-valued homology to study set-valued mappings between two spaces whose homology groups are known.
