For an abelian lattice-ordered group \(G\) let \(\text{Spec}(G)\) be the set of all prime \(\ell\)-ideals of \(G\); this set is equipped with the topology having as a basis the sets \(\hat{g} =\{ P\in\text{Spec}(G):g\notin P\}\), for \(g\in G\). The main results of the paper are as follows. (i) It is proved that the topological space \(\text{Spec}(G)\) satisfies a condition which is denoted as \(\text{ Id}\omega\). (Its definition is too lengthy to be reproduced here.) (ii) By applying (i), it is shown that for each nondenumerable cardinal \(\alpha\) there exists a completely normal spectral space of cardinality \(\alpha\) that is not homeomorphic to \(\text{Spec}(G)\) for any \(\ell\)-group \(G\); this generalizes a previous construction given by \textit{C. N. Delzell} and \textit{J. J. Madden} [``A completely normal spectral space that is not a real spectrum'', J. Algebra 169, 71-77 (1994; Zbl 0833.14030)].
