The authors consider the class of entire functions such that each function \(f\) is the local uniform limit in \(C\) of a sequence of polynomials with only real zeros and has \(x=-1\) and \(x=1\) as consecutive zeros. It is the subclass of the well-known Laguerre-Pólya class of the functions. For such functions they investigate the problem of minimizing \[ \int^1_{-1}|1-f(x)|^p dx,\quad p\in(0, \infty). \] The main result of the paper is Theorem 1: For each \(p\in [1,\infty)\) there exists a unique constant \(c_p> 0\) such that \[ \int^1_{-1}|1- f(x)|^p dx> \int^1_{-1}|1- c_p(1- x^2)|^p dx \] if \(f(x)\neq c_p(1- x^2)\).
