The author studies the stability of traveling weak detonation waves of the system (Majda-Rosales combustion model) \[ \begin{cases} u_t+ ({u^2\over 2}- q_0z)_x- \beta u_{xx}= 0,\quad & x\in\mathbb{R},\quad t>0,\\ z_x= K\phi(u)z,\quad & x\in \mathbb{R},\quad t>0,\\ u(x,0)= u_0,\\ \lim_{x\to\infty} z(x,t)= 1,\end{cases}\tag{1} \] where \(u\) represents a temperature variable, \(z\) the fuel concentration \((0\leq z\leq 1)\), \(\phi\) is the ignition temperature kinetics \[ \phi(u)= \begin{cases} 0,\quad & u\leq 0,\\ 1,\quad & u>0,\end{cases} \] \(k\) and \(\beta\) are the reaction rate and the viscosity, respectively. The main result of the paper lies in proving that weak detonation waves of (1) are stable in the sense that the solution to (1) which initially is a slightly perturbed weak detonation wave, tend asymptotically to a translated weak detonation wave.
