Let \(Z\) be a rational log Enriques surface, and let \(S\) be its canonical covering. Then \(S\) has trivial canonical class and has at worst Du val singularities. Let \(\tilde S\) be the minimal resolution of \(S\) and let \(\Delta\) be the sublattice of the Neron-Severi lattice of \(\tilde S\) generated by the exceptional divisors. Then \(Z\) is called ''extremal'' if the rank of \(\Delta\) is \(19\), the maximum possible value. In this case \(\tilde S\) is a \(K3\) surface with Picard number 20, equipped with an automorphism \(g\), a generator of the Galois group of the canonical covering. In this paper, the authors classify all extremal log Enriques surfaces, by showing that there are exactly 7 types (all of them are unique). Among these 7 types, two had been appeared in the authors' previous work [Am.J. Math. 118, No.6, 1277-1297 (1996; Zbl 0889.14016)].
