The authors propose a design procedure that gives suboptimal decentralized controllers producing a closed-loop transfer function with prespecified \(H_\infty\) norm bound. The class of stabilizing controllers is parametrized for the plant arising in the \(J\)-spectral factorization approach to \(H_\infty\) control. Using a parametrization of all decentralized stable factors, the authors establish parametrizations in terms of the Youla parametrization. The \(J\)-spectral factorization is used to build a decentralized controller design procedure. The procedure is proposed for 2-channel systems, but the results could be generalized for multichannel systems. In contrast to the previous papers on parametrization of decentralized controllers [e.g. \textit{R. A. Date} and \textit{J. H. Chow}, Automatica 29, No. 2, 457-463 (1993; Zbl 0772.93029)] the authors parametrize decentralized controllers suboptimal as decentralized compensators.
