The Bruck-Bose map and Beukenhout-Metz unitals (Q1299038)

The Buekenhout-Metz unitals were originally found using the representation, due to André and to Bruck and Bose, of \(PG(2,q^2)\) using a regular spread of \(PG(4,q)\) (but the construction of the projective plane over the complex field via a regular spread of the projective 4-dimensional space over the real field by Corrado Segre dates earlier). This paper is a nice and very well written survey on the representation of Baer subplanes and Buekenhout-Metz unitals in \(PG(4,q)\), which collects and explains all the known results on the topic.
