The so-called boundary contour method (a variant of the direct boundary element method in which the surface element integrals are transformed, through Stokes theorem, into contour line integrals) is employed to compute design sensitivities in three-dimensional linear elasticity. The complete formulation is presented, and numerical results, including surface variables and their sensitivities, are discussed for selected examples.
