Two order invariants related to the fixed point property (Q1300330)

The authors introduce two numerical invariants of orders that measure how close a poset is to the fixed point property and which seem to function well without having too complicated definitions, namely \(\mu\) and \(\nu\) functions. They give general properties of these invariants and link them to known results on the fixed point property. Further they generalize Rival's theorem, state the product problem in terms of \(\mu\) and \(\nu\) functions and show a possible product theorem.
