The reviewed paper is a continuation of the paper: \textit{A. Ben-Artzi} and \textit{I. Gohberg}, Integral Equations Oper. Theory 24, 422-469 (1996; Zbl 0846.47024). A matrix \(T\) is called \(G\)-bounded if there exists a positive number \(\mu\) such that \(\mu^2G - T^{*}GT > 0\), where \(G\) is invertible and self-adjoint. In other words, \(T\) is \(G\)-bounded if and only if \(T\) is homothetic with a uniformly \(G\)-contractive matrix. The authors investigate singular numbers of \(G\)-bounded matrices which are defined in analogy with the approximation property in the classical case. These singular numbers satisfy inequalities analogous to the usual submultiplicative inequalities, and are also invariant under \(G\)-adjoint operation. If \(T\) is an \(r{\times}r\) matrix, there are precisely \(r\) nontrivial singular members which appear as eigenvalues of the diagonable hermitian pencil \(\zeta G -T^{*}GT\). The main result of the paper is an extension for the case of \(G\)-bounded matrices of Yamamoto's theorem concerning asymptotic properties of singular numbers of \(T^n\) for large \(n\).
