The authors present an asymptotically correct generalization of Vlasov's theory for static behaviour of anisotropic thin-walled beams with open cross-sections. Comparisons with three-dimensional numerical analysis show that the presented variational-asymptotic approach is in good agreement with all known theories. If asymptotic terms of second order in \(a/ \ell\) \((a\) is the height of I-cross-section, and \(\ell\) is the lenfth of the beam) are retained, the theory is capable to describe end effects in beams for slowly decaying disturbances.
