The authors examine a steady-state thermoelastic boundary value problem for a linear homogeneous cubically-orthotropic elastic solid circular cylinder under plane-strain conditions, subject to an axially symmetric temperature field. The material properties of the cylinder are described by three independent elastic constants and only by one coefficient of thermal expansion. As a result, the problem is an asymmetric one. A deviation of the orthotropic elasticity tensor from that of an isotropic material is taken as a small parameter, and a solution to the problem is obtained in the form of asymptotic series in powers of this parameter. Numerical examples are included. The reviewer believes that inclusion into the list of references a number of earlier papers on thermoelastic orthotropic problems would be useful [see e.g., \textit{J. Nowinski}, \textit{W. Olszak} and \textit{W. Urbanowski}, Arch. Mech. Stosow. 7, No. 2, 247-265 (1955; Zbl 0068.18401)].
