For parts I and II of this paper see \textit{I. Biswas}, Math. Ann. 307, No.~3, 511-529 (1997; Zbl 0877.14013) and \textit{I. Biswas} and \textit{D. S. Nagaraj}, Topology 37, No. 4, 781-789 (1998; see the preceding review Zbl 0929.14006); in these preceding papers some properties of ample vector bundles are generalized to ample parabolic bundles. In this part III the authors study parabolic numerically effective vector bundles on a connected smooth projective complex manifold. The definition of parabolic numerically effectiveness is quite natural: A parabolic vector bundle \(E_\ast\) is parabolic numerically effective if there is an ample line bundle \(L\) such that \(S^k(E_\ast)\otimes L\) is parabolic ample for every \(k\), where \(S^k(E_\ast)\) is the parabolic symmetric power. Both the concept of parabolic ampleness and parabolic symmetric product have been defined in the aforementioned references. A parabolic vector bundle \(E_\ast\) is said to be numerically flat if both \(E_\ast\) and its parabolic dual \(E_\ast^\ast\) are parabolic numerically effective. For vector bundles with rational parabolic weights and parabolic structure over a normal crossing divisor, numerically effectiveness is characterized in terms of the parabolic Chern classes, also defined by \textit{I. Biswas} [J. Math. Kyoto Univ. 37, No. 4, 597-613 (1998; Zbl 0929.14005)]: One of those parabolic vector bundles is parabolic numerically effective if and only if it is parabolic semistable with vanishing first and second parabolic Chern classes.
