The paper begins with the definition of a neutrix product of distributions whereby \(\rho\) is a fixed infinitely differentiable function having the properties: \[ (\text{i})\qquad \rho(x)= 0\quad\text{for }|x|\geq 1,\qquad(\text{ii})\qquad \rho(x)\geq 0, \] \[ (\text{iii})\qquad \rho(x)= \rho(-x),\qquad (\text{iv})\qquad \int^1_{-1} \rho(x) dx= 1. \] We then define \(\delta_n(x)= n\rho(nx)\) for \(n= 1,2,\dots\)\ . It is obvious that \(\{\delta_n\}\) is a regular sequence of infinitely differentiable functions converging to the Dirac delta-function \(\delta(x)\). Now, let \(f\) be an arbitrary distribution and define the function \(f_n\) by \[ f_n(x)= f*\delta_n= \int^{1/n}_{-1/n} f(x- t) \delta_n(t) dt. \] Now, let \(f\) and \(g\) be arbitrary distributions and let \(g_n= g*\delta_n\). We will say that the neutrix product \(f\circ g\) of \(f\) and \(g\) exists and is equal to \(h\) on the open interval \((a,b)\) \((-\infty\leq a< b\leq\infty)\) if \(\underset{n\to\infty}{N\text{-lim}} \langle fg_n,\phi\rangle= \langle h,\phi\rangle\) for all \(\phi\in D\), where \(N\) is the neutrix. The formulae for the neutrix products \(F(x_+,-r)\ln x_+\circ x^{-s}_-\), \(x_+^{-r}\ln x_+\circ x^{-s}_-\) and \(x^{-s}_-\circ F(x_+,-r)\ln x_+\) are also given for \(r, s= 1,2,\dots\) and moreover \[ \langle F(x_+,-r)\ln x_+,\phi(x)\rangle=\int^\infty_0 x^{-r}\ln x\Biggl[\phi(x)- \sum^{r- 2}_{i=0} {\phi^{(i)}(0)\over i!} x^i- {\phi^{(r- 1)}(0)\over (r- 1)!} H(1-x)x^{r- 1}\Biggr] dx \] and \[ \langle F(x_-,-s)_,\phi(x)\rangle=\int^\infty_0 x^{-s}\Biggl[\phi(- x)- \sum^{s- 2}_{i= 0} {\phi^{(i)}(0)\over i!} (-x)^i- {\phi^{(s- 1)}(0)\over (s- 1)!} H(1- x)x^{s- 1}\Biggr] dx, \] where \(H(x)\) denotes the Heaviside function.
