Reduction modulo \(p\) of cyclic group actions of order \(p^r\) (Q1304890)

The authors describe an action of a local multiplicative group scheme \(\mu_{p^{r},k}\) on an affine scheme \(\text{Spec} {\overline A}\) defined over a field \(k\) of characteristic \(p\) in terms of a locally finite higher derivation of multiplicative type of a \(k\)-algebra \({\overline A}\). They consider a lifting of such an action of \(\mu_{p^{r},k}\) to a field \(K\) of characteristic zero, which is then an action of a cyclic group of order \(p^r\) provided \(K\) contains a primitive \(p^r\)-th root of unity. The authors develop a general theory of the lifting by considering an action of a finite group scheme \(\mu_{p^{r},{\mathfrak O}}\) over a \(p^r\)-good discrete valuation ring \({\mathfrak O}\). The article under review was a sequel to a previous paper [\textit{M. Miyanishi} and \textit{T. Nomura}, J. Pure Appl. Algebra 71, No. 2/3, 249-264 (1991; Zbl 0743.14035)], where the case \(r = 1\) is treated.
