Functions satisfying a dissipative inequality associated with a control problem are characterized. Such a characterization is provided in terms of an epicontingent solution, or a viscosity supersolution to a partial differential equation called Isaacs's equation. Relations between supersolutions and epicontingent solutions to Isaacs's equation are studied. A disturbance attenuation feedback for the \(H^\infty\) problem is derived from a contingent formulation of Isaacs's equation.
