Finite-dimensional real Lie algebras \(\mathfrak g\) may be viewed as linear Poisson tensors on their duals: \[ P_0=\sum_{i,j,k}c^k_{ij}x_k\frac{\partial}{\partial x_i}\otimes \frac{\partial}{\partial x_j}, \] where \(c^k_{ij}\) are the structure constants with respect to the basis \(\{ x_i\}\) of \(\mathfrak g\). On the other hand, every Poisson structure \(P\) can be written around its singular point in the form \[ P=P_0+\text{ higher order terms} \] and the problem of linearization is to write \(P\) in the form of its linear part \(P_0\) in appropriate coordinates. In this context the Lie algebra \(\mathfrak g\) is called \textit{nondegenerate} if every singular Poisson tensor with the linear part equal to \(P_0\) associated with \(\mathfrak g\) can be linearized. In particular, it is well known that semisimple Lie algebras are nondegenerate. The author considers \textit{nice} Lie algebras, i.e. Lie algebras with coadjoint orbits (symplectic leaves of the linear Poisson tensor \(P_0\)) of dimension \(\leq 2\). The main result states that if the dimension of a nice Lie algebra \(\mathfrak g\) is at least 4 then \(\mathfrak g\) is degenerate (in smooth and analytic category) except if \({\mathfrak g}={\mathfrak so}(3)\oplus{\mathbb R}\) or \({\mathfrak g}={\mathfrak sl}(2,{\mathbb R})\oplus{\mathbb R}\).
