This note is based on a previous one of the same authors [Int. J. Solids Struct. 31, No. 16, 2153--2165 (1994; Zbl 0946.74542)]. Its main objectives are: (1) a simplification in the use of static-geometric duality by means of an alternate form of the solution of stress concentration problems for twisted or sheared \ shallow spherical shells with a stress-free hole, a rigid insert, or a circular edge with a roller support near the apex of the shell; (2) the construction of complete solutions (applicable to the entire range of the shell parameters) including numerical data for specific problems. The simplification consists in expressing the 12 stress concentration factors by merely one auxiliary function which represents the boundary layer solution, i.e. the interior solution does not influence the stress concentration.
