Let \(D\) be the open disk of the complex plane, and let \((X,\|\cdot\|_X)\) be a Banach space with norm indicated. If \(1\leq p<\infty\), then the Hardy space \(H^p(X)\) and Bergman space \(B^p(X)\) are defined by \[ \begin{multlined} H^p(X)= \Biggl\{f: D\to X: f\text{ is analytic on \(D\)}\text{ and}\\ \|f\|^p_{H^p(X)}= (1/2\pi)\sup_{0\leq r\leq 1} \int^{2\pi}_0\|f(re^{i\theta})\|^p_X d\theta< \infty\Biggr\};\end{multlined} \] \[ \begin{multlined} B^p(X)= \Biggl\{ f: D\to X: f\text{ is analytic on \(D\)} \text{ and}\\ \|f\|^p_{B^p(X)}= (1/\pi) \int_D\|f(z)\|^p_X d\mu(z) <\infty\Biggr\},\end{multlined} \] where \(\mu\) is the measure of two-dimensional space. The Bloch space \({\mathcal B}(X)\) and its closed subspace the little Bloch space \({\mathcal B}_0(X)\) are defined by \[ {\mathcal B}(X)= \Biggl\{f: D\to X: f\text{ is analytic on }D,\;\|f\|_{{\mathcal B}(X)}= \sup_{z\in D}(1-|z|^2)\|f'(z)\|_X< \infty\Biggr\}, \] \[ {\mathcal B}_0(X)= \Biggl\{f\in{\mathcal B}(X):\lim_{|z|\to 1}(1-|z|^2) \|f'(z)\|_X= 0\Biggr\}. \] If \(\phi: D\to D\) is analytic, then the composition operator \(C_\phi\) is defined by \(C_\phi(f)(z)= f\circ\phi(z)= f(\phi(z))\). In the main theorems of this paper, the authors show that \(C_\phi: S\to S\) is weakly compact if and only if (i) \(X\) is reflexive and \((1-|\phi(w)|)/(1- |w|)\to \infty\) as \(|w|\to 1\) in the case \(S= B^1(X)\); (ii) \(X\) is reflexive and \(N_\phi(w)= o(1-|w|)\) as \(|w|\to 1\) in the case \(S= H^1(X)\), where \(N_\phi(w)\) is the Nevanlinna counting function; (iii) \(X\) is reflexive and \(\lim_{a\to 1} \sup_{\lambda_a(\phi)}(1- |z|^2)|\phi'(z)|/(1- |\phi(z)|^2)= 0\) in the case \(S={\mathcal B}(X)\), where \(\lambda_a(\phi)= \{z\in D:|\phi(z)|\geq a\}\). The main results are indicated as being vector-valued forms of results derived by \textit{B. D. MacCluer} and \textit{J. H. Shapiro}, Can. J. Math. 38, 878-906 (1986; Zbl 0608.30050); \textit{J. H.
