Homologically trivial actions on cyclic coverings of knots (Q1306256)

The authors consider the class of 3-manifolds which are cyclic branched coverings of knots in the 3-sphere \(S^3\). They give necessary and sufficient conditions, in terms of the knot polynomials (the Alexander polynomial), for the effectiveness of the isometry group action on the first homology group in the case of hyperbolic manifolds which are \(p\)-fold cyclic coverings of knots when \(p\) is sufficiently large.
