On methods of solving parabolic problems which are based on bordering a matrix (Q1307156)

The aim of the article is to study approximation and stability properties of difference schemata based on the bordering method. The problems under study are parabolic. The article consists of six sections. A weak version of the problem and its discretization by the finite element method is presented in Section 2. First-order schemes, the stability condition, and a theorem on convergence are given in Section 3; it is worth noting that these schemes are presented as sums of implicit and explicit schemes. Basing on results of this section, a three-layers second-order scheme with the same stability condition is constructed in Section 4. A method of constructing intermediate matrices is considered in Section 5. Section 6 consummates the article and contains remarks on applying the approach suggested to domain decomposition methods.
