Let \((Y,G)\) be a locally compact topological dynamical system (thus, \(G\) is a locally compact group acting continuously on the locally compact space \(Y\)). The equivariant Brauer group \(\text{Br}_G(Y)\) is the set of Morita-equivalence classes of \(C^*\)-dynamical systems \((A,G),\) where \(A\) is a continuous trace \(C^*\)-algebra with spectrum \(Y\) and such that the induced action of \(G\) on \(Y\) coincides with the given \(G\)-action on \(Y.\) It was shown by \textit{D. Crocker, A. Kumjian, I. Raeburn} and \textit{D. Williams} [J. Funct. Anal. 146, No. 1, 151-184 (1997; Zbl 0873.22003)] that \(\text{Br}_G(Y)\) is an abelian group with mutiplication given by balanced tensor product over \(C_0(Y).\) Assume now that \(G\) is abelian and that \(Y\) is a locally trivial principal \(G\)-bundle over \(Z=Y/G.\) Let \(N\) be a closed subgroup of \(G\) and let \(X=Y/N.\) The author constructs a homomorphism between \(H^2(G,C(X,{\mathbb T}))\) and \(\text{Br}_N(Z)\) and uses this homomorphism to give conditions under which a twisted transformation group \(C^*\)-algebra \(C_0(X)\times_{\tau,\omega} G\) is strongly Morita-equivalent to \(C_0(Z)\times_{\text{Id},\omega} N.\) These results results are applied to the study of twisted group \(C^*\)-algebras \(C^*(\Gamma,\mu)\) for a finitely generated torsion-free two-step nilpotent group \(\Gamma.\)
