A Yangian \(Y({\mathfrak g})\) is a Hopf algebra deformation of the universal enveloping algebra of the Lie algebra \({\mathfrak g}[t]\), where \({\mathfrak g}\) is a finite-dimensional complex simple Lie algebra and \(t\) is an indeterminate. \textit{V. G. Drinfeld} gave two presentations of \(Y({\mathfrak g})\) in terms of generators and relations, of which the second, given in [Sov. Math., Dokl. 36, No. 2, 212-216 (1988); translation from Dokl. Akad. Nauk SSSR 269, 13-17 (1987; Zbl 0667.16004)] is the most useful. The generators in this presentation are `quantum' analogues of the generators \(xt^ k\) of \({\mathfrak g}[t]\), where \(x\) runs through a set of Chevalley generators of \({\mathfrak g}\) and \(k\in\mathbb{N}\), but it is fairly clear that \(Y({\mathfrak g})\) is generated by the analogues of the elements \(x\), \(xt\). In this paper, the author writes down relations between these latter generators which are equivalent to those given by Drinfel'd. This gives a third presentation of \(Y({\mathfrak g})\), but using only finitely many generators.
