Trying to explain when a limit of a sequence of real valued continuous functions is continuous, \textit{C. Arzelà} [Bologna Mem, Ser. 5, 8, 131-186, 701-744 (1900; JFM 31.0394.01)] introduced a new type of convergence of a sequence of functions (which was later named quasi-uniform by E. Borel). Later on, at least three different types of convergence were introduced for the same purpose by several authors [\textit{B. Gagaeff}, Fundam. Math. 18, 182-188 (1932; Zbl 0004.20501); \textit{H. Poppe}, Math. Nachr. 29, 205-216 (1965; Zbl 0129.37802); \textit{M. Predoi}, Period. Math. Hung. 10, 31-49 (1979; Zbl 0368.54001)]. In this note, we compare all of them and investigate their elementary properties.
