The author returns to a topic, first introduced by Signorini and greatly expanded in [\textit{G. Grioli}, Mathematical theory of elastic equilibrium. Ch. VI, (1962; Zbl 0102.170)], regarding lower limits for stress in a body with arbitrary constitutive laws (and also lower limits for strain in a linearly elastic body). In this paper the author draws some consequences of those earlier results when applied to a cylindrical body and comes, in particular, to an acute remark: simple inequalities generalize, strictly, to a vast context well-known results for Saint- Venant's problem.
