Hamiltonian systems are canonical systems on phase space endowed with symplectic structures. Their spectral property requires that the numerical algorithms for them should preserve as much as possible the symplectic properties of the original systems. In this paper the hyperbolic functions \(\text{sinh}(x)\), \(\text{cosh}(x)\), and \(\text{tanh}(x)\) are used to construct symplectic schemes of arbitrary order for wave equations. The stability properties of these schemes are discussed as well.
