The author improves a result by Yu-Zhong and by Lee-Wong, concerning the splitting between the first two eigenvalues of the Schrödinger operator on a strictly convex bounded domain \(\Omega\) of \(\mathbb{R}^ n\) or \(S^ n\), with Dirichlet boundary condition. He obtains \[ \lambda_ 2- \lambda_ 1\geq {4\over {d^ 2}} K^ 2 \] where \(d\) is the diameter of \(\Omega\) and \(K>\pi/2\) is related to some other quantities occurring in the problem.
