So far, even in the simplest case, there is no complete description of the automorphisms of Wall groups \(L_ n (\pi,w)\) induced by automorphisms of the group \(\pi\) that preserve the type of orientation \(w: \pi\to \{\pm 1\}\). The paper under review, studies the induced automorphisms of \(L_ 3(\pi,w)= L_ 3(\pi)\) in the case \(\pi\) is an elementary 2-group with trivial type of orientation \(w\). First, the author of the paper shows that \(L_ 3(\pi)\) may be identified in a natural way (relative to the automorphisms of \(\pi\)) with a quotient group of the Tate cohomology \(H^ 0 (\widehat {\mathbb{Z}}_ 2 \pi)^ X\), and then he obtains a complete description of the induced automorphisms of \(L_ 3 (\pi)\). Finally, the author presents some geometric corollaries on homothetic triangulations in Browder-Livesay pairs \((X,Y)\) of manifolds \(Y\subset X\) in the case of elements in \(L_ 3(\mathbb{Z}_ 2 \oplus \mathbb{Z}_ 2)\) and \(L_ 3 (\mathbb{Z}_ 2\oplus \mathbb{Z}_ 2\oplus \mathbb{Z}_ 2)\).
