    The authors investigate spectral properties of random Schrödinger operators \[ H_ \omega:=-\Delta + \xi_ n(\omega)(1+| n|^ \alpha) \] acting on \(l^ 2(\mathbb{Z}^ d)\), where \(\xi_ n\) are independent random variables uniformly distributed on [0,1]. Their main results are: (1) \(H_ \omega\) has a discrete spectrum \(\mathbb{P}\)-a.s. iff \(\alpha > d\). If \(N_ \omega(E)\) denotes the number of eigenvalues of \(H_ \omega\) which are less than \(E\), then \[ \lim_{E\to \infty} N_ \omega(E)\left({\tau_ d\over \alpha-d} E^{d/\alpha}\right)^{-1} = 1 \] for \(\alpha > d\) and a.e. \(\omega\), where \(\tau_ d\) stands for the volume of a unit ball in \(\mathbb{R}^ d\). (2) If \(d/k \geq \alpha > d/(k+1)\) for integers \(k > 0\), then for a.e. \(\omega\) (2.1) \(\sigma(H_ \omega) = \sigma_{\rho\rho}(H_ \omega)\). If \(\phi_{\omega,E}(n)\) is an eigenfunction of \(H_ \omega\) corresponding to an eigenvalue \(E\), then \(| \phi_{\omega,E}(n)| \leq C_{\omega,E}(n)\text{exp}(-\alpha| n|)\). (2.2) \(\sigma_{\text{ess}}(H_ \omega) = [a_ k,\infty)\). (2.3) \(\#\sigma_{\text{disc}}(H_ \omega) < \infty\). (3) Let \(\lambda_ D\) be the lowest eigenvalue of a Dirichlet Laplacian of a unit ball in \(\mathbb{R}^ d\). Then \(\lim_{k\to\infty} a_ k k^{d/2}/\lambda_ D = 1\).
