    Let \(\Omega\) be a regular bounded open subset of \(\mathbb{R}^ N\) with boundary \(\Gamma\), and \(\Gamma_ 0\) be an open subset of \(\Gamma\). If \(x \in \Gamma\), \(\nu (x)\) denotes the unit exterior normal vector. For \(T>0\), denote \(Q=\Omega \times(0,T)\), \(\Sigma = \Gamma \times (0,T)\), \(\Sigma_ 0 = \Gamma_ 0 \times (0,T)\). For functions \(a_{ij} \in C^ 2 (\overline \Omega)\), \(i,j=1,2,\dots,N\), and \(h \in L^ 1((0,T)\), \(L^ 2(\Omega))\), \(u_ 0 \in H_ 0 (\Omega)\), \(u_ 1 \in L^ 2 (\Omega)\), properties of the solutions of the wave equation \[ u''- \sum_{i,j} {\partial \over \partial x_ i} \left( a_{ij} {\partial u \over \partial x_ j} \right) = h \text{ in } Q; \quad u=0 \text{ on } \Sigma,\quad u(0) = u_ 0,\;u'(0)=u_ 1 \tag{E} \] are considered. The main result is the following: There exists a positive constant \(C\) independent of \(\varepsilon\) such that, for every \((h,u_ 0,u_ 1) \in L^ 1((0,T),L^ 2(\Omega)) \times H^ 1_ 0 (\Omega) \times L^ 2 (\Omega)\), if \(u\) is the solution of \((E)\), then \[ {1 \over \varepsilon^ 3} \int^ T_ 0 \int_{\Omega_ \varepsilon} u^ 2dx dt \leq C \left[ \| h \|^ 2_{L^ 1((0,T),L^ 2(\Omega))} + \| u_ 0 \|^ 2_{H^ 1_ 0(\Omega)} + \| u_ 1 \|^ 2_{L^ 2 (\Omega)} \right]. \] A regularity property of the normal derivative of the limit of a sequence of ``very weak'' solutions is proved, too.
