Let \(X\) be a metric continuum and let \(f: X \to X\) be a homeomorphism. In an earlier paper [Can. J. Math. 45, No. 3, 576-598 (1993; see the preceding review)] the author has defined continuum-wise expansive homeomorphisms and given several properties of these homeomorphisms. This study is continued in this paper and then a more general concept is given: \(f\) is said to be a continuum-wise fully expansive homeomorphism provided that for any \(\varepsilon > 0\) and \(\delta > 0\), there is a natural number \(N = N(\varepsilon,\delta) > 0\) such that if \(A\) is a subcontinuum of \(X\) with \(\text{diam }A \geq \delta\), then either \(d_ H(f^ n(A),X) < \varepsilon\) for all \(n \geq N\), or \(d_ H(f^{- n}(A),X) < \varepsilon\) for all \(n \geq N\) where \(d_ H\) is the Hausdorff metric. Properties of these homeomorphisms are developed. For example, if a plane continuum admits a continuum-wise fully expansive homeomorphism, then \(X\) is indecomposable.
